Summer Makeup Routine

summer makeup look

Do you switch up your makeup routine in the summer? I always gravitate to warmer, golden tones, and I swap foundation for my favorite tinted moisturizer. Sweating under heavy makeup is no fun! I thought I’d share my summer makeup routine in case you’re looking for some new products & application tips!

Primer

This primer is lightweight and great for oily skin. It doesn’t clog my pores, and makes my makeup last all day!

Tinted Moisturizer

This tinted moisturizer from Tarte is a holy grail product for me. It’s the perfect light, hydrating coverage for the warmer months, but it doesn’t make my skin greasy or slide off my face. It’s breathable, and gives a gorgeous natural glow. I wear shade 13N, which works whether I’m tanned or not!

Concealer

Where would I be without Shape Tape? Looking like I have 2 black eyes and getting asked if I’m okay 87 times a day probably. This is the only concealer that covers my genetically dark circles, and I will forever be repurchasing it. I wear shade 12N – Fair Neutral.

Setting Powder

I love this $8 drugstore setting powder! It’s very fine and sets makeup without looking cakey – must for my oily skin in the summer!
TIP: apply setting powder with a dry makeup sponge to your under eyes for longer lasting concealer.

Bronzer, Blush, & Highlighter

Getting a summer glow that still looks natural on pale skin can be tricky. This bronzer is the only one I’ll use and looks natural rather than orange. I like this blush in the shade “Rosa Romantica” because it gives a natural color with a bit of shimmer. IMO highlighter is a must for making sure pale skin doesn’t look pasty – this one in the shade “Pearl” is gorgeous. I just swipe a fan brush across all 3 colors.

Eyeshadow

I always gravitate to warm, bronzed eye makeup looks in the summer. This Tarte palette is my go to for any season, and it’s perfect for subtle neutral summer eye makeup. I also love the Soft Glam palette for the beautiful oranges and pinks for a sun-kissed going out look. Instead of a crisp liquid eyeliner, I’ve been loving a softer wing in the warmer months – I have a tutorial here!

Brows

My brows need help, as in they basically don’t exist. I fill them in with Brow Wiz in Taupe (perfect for ashy hair) and then use Gimme Brow in 4.5 to fluff them up. I love this combo for a natural looking brow!

Setting Spray

I’ve used this NYX matte setting spray for years and never felt the need to try anything else. It makes my makeup last all day even in the heat!
TIP: apply setting spray before your mascara to avoid mascara splotches!

Mascara

Love this mascara for volume, length, and lash separation. It’s also lightweight, so it doesn’t make your lashes droop!

Lip Color

In the summer, I prefer a lightweight, hydrating lip to a liquid lip. Tarte lipstick in Beach Babe is the perfect nude if you have pale skin with a warm undertone like mine. I also love the Maracuja Juicy Lips for a gloss that isn’t sticky!
