I haven’t put out my Christmas decor yet this year, but I think I’ll get started soon! It’s a little early for me, but 2020 has been a year and a half, and I think I could use some extra Christmas cheer to close it out. Before I decorate, I always love going through photos of last year to get some ideas and also just to see what we have! Last year, we tried a new spot for our Christmas tree, and I definitely want to put it there again. We used to have the tree in front of the window, but it was often too bright to really see all of our ornaments (and frankly, we have too many plants there now)!
This year, we plan to do the same white and neutral color palette with lots of texture. I also got super into bottle brush trees last year, and I’m excited to see them again! I feel like the moment when I open that first storage bin of Christmas decor is my official kickoff to the season – anyone else? Unwrapping the ornaments I carefully packed away in January always feels so magical.
Most of our decor has been collected over the years. A good chunk of it is actually from Homesense (Homegoods in the US), so the exact items aren’t available anymore. I did find this year’s version of our white Christmas tree, and it’s super affordable! It’s also pre-lit, which I love, because nothing dampens the merriment like wrangling a string of lights around the tree. At the bottom of this post, I’ve rounded up some ornaments, wreaths, bottle brush trees, and table-top decor with the same neutral aesthetic.
