DIY Neutral Halloween Wreath

DIY neutral Halloween wreath

So, I love Halloween, but I don’t love the bright colors of a lot of Halloween decor. I like to keep my spooky neutral to look cohesive with the rest of my decor, so I knew I needed to DIY a Halloween wreath. This absolutely incredible boho Halloween wreath from Stephanie Hanna was my inspiration – can’t get over how pretty it is!

You’ll Need:

  • Wreath base
  • Neutral leaf stems
  • Fall floral picks
  • Mini skulls
  • Craft paint
  • Black craft paper
  • Bat template
  • Hot glue gun

How To:

  1. Paint the skulls. These may take a few coats, so best to start them first! Stick a skewer in the bottom to them easy to hold while you paint.
  2. Lay our your leaves, starting with the neutral base leaves. Don’t glue anything yet, just arrange them the way you like. I put all my leaves going in the same direction for a natural look. Once you’re happy with your layout, secure each leaf with a dot of hot glue.
  3. Add floral accents. I took apart my floral picks and added orange leaves, berries, and mini pumpkins throughout for texture, securing with hot glue.
  4. Add bats. I cut out 2 different sizes of bats and folded their wings so they look like they’re flying. I placed around the sides and top of the wreath, “flying” upwards. For a natural look, make sure the bats are going in slightly different directions! I attached each with a dot of hot glue.
  5. Add skulls. I painted my skulls matte white & metallic gold – I love the contrast in texture! These are also attached with hot glue.

Halloween always get me in the mood for DIY decor, and I’m so happy with how this spooky wreath turned out. I of course went with neutrals, but you could make this your own by switching out the florals and paint colors. You can add anything you like – the possibilities are endless!

Hope this inspired you to get crafty! If you make this DIY Halloween wreath, please send me a photo, I’d love to see!
