Wow, May has been a big month! I turned 31 on the 15th and then got my first dose of the vaccine the next day. We’ve also been preparing for something very exciting happening in June, and I can’t wait to share it with you! So it’s been busy but fun, and I’m feeling so energized and hopeful heading into summer!
Here are 5 things that brought me joy this May!
1. Victoria Emerson “Katherine” Gold Chain Bracelet
I’ve worn this bracelet so much since I got it that it’s more than earned its spot on this list. I just love the look of layered chunky gold chains, and this bracelet is all one piece so it’s easy to get the stacked look! This bracelet really goes with any summer outfit, and I love it paired with other Victoria Emerson pieces like this tan leather double wrap.
2. The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett
I finished this book a few days ago, and I’m still thinking about it. It’s a deep and insightful look at how issues of race, colorism, secrecy, and family ties affect a pair of twin sisters and their daughters. Highly, highly recommend.
3. Summer Picnics
We went on a picnic during the long weekend, and honestly it was exactly what we needed. Pre-pandemic we used to go on picnics throughout the summer, mostly to the beach or downtown, and we didn’t really realize how much we missed them. To keep it safe, we went to a quiet park within walking distance and brought our own food. It was so lovely to just slow down and be out in nature.
4. The Best White Button Down Shirt
I cannot stop wearing this Free People dupe shirt! I saw it first on Kathleen Post and was on the fence about getting it – but I’m so glad I finally did! The crinkle texture and distressed details are perfect, and I love the flowy fit. It’s TTS, I got my normal small. But the best thing about this shirt is how many ways you can wear it! I love it open over a tank as a light layer or tied in the front with high waisted jeans. You could also wear it as a swimsuit coverup!
5. White Biker Shorts
I really love wearing white in the spring and summer – it’s just so fresh! Plus it makes me look more tan, and I need all the help I can get in that department haha. These white biker shorts are from my favorite line from Aerie, OFFLINE, which is also my go to for leggings. I love that these don’t have a front seam and they’re double lined. Bonus: they have pockets! They fit TTS, I’m wearing my normal small.
